meet the team
Chapter Theatre Company is an ever-evolving team, as we like to collaborate with other artists and performance makers on every project. At the core of Chapter Theatre, the company is co-run by Abi Deane and Nancy Edwards.
Abi deane
Director , Producer , Facilitator
Abi Deane is a director, producer and facilitator, utilising movement and chaos to devise her work.
Abi graduated in Applied Theatre from the Brit School where she collaborated with companies such as Chickenshed, Objekt films and the Deaf and Hearing ensemble. During her studies she had the opportunity performing and creating in a plethora of locations including The Isle of Wight , The British Summertime Festival at Hyde Park and all across London collaborating with different artists. Currently, she is studying (BA) Drama Applied Theatre and Education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, working/training as a performer, facilitator and director.
When she co-founded Chapter Theatre Company, she helped to develop their debut play Am I Pretty When I Cry? as a dramaturge, as well as then taking on the roles of director and producer in the rehearsal process.
Nancy Edwards
Playwright
Nancy Edwards is a writer who likes to work across the forms of poetry, prose and script, often merging these forms together within her writing. Her work mostly fits the genre of drama, often leaning on the juxtaposition of comedy and tragedy to explore experiences of femininity and queerness.
She is currently studying (BA) Writing for Performance at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she has been developing her playwrighting both independently and as a collaborator, on projects such as Camden Spirits (CSSD, 2024).
She co-founded Chapter Theatre Company in October, 2023, after having finished her first play, a one-woman show called Am I Pretty When I Cry? , which Chapter Theatre took on for development and was performed in March and May of 2024 at The Hope Theatre.
